What Is a Protein Latte? A Retailer’s Guide to SUNA

SUNA brings café culture into the protein aisle: real tea, smooth latte texture, 20g of protein, 10g of marine collagen, and a taste-first experience.

A new place between the café and the protein aisle

SUNA is a café-inspired Protein Latte made with real tea, whey protein isolate, and marine collagen. It is designed to drink like the latte a customer would have chosen anyway—smooth, layered, and slowly sipped—while delivering 20g of protein and 10g of marine collagen per serving.

For retailers, the easiest way to understand the product is this: SUNA is not a protein shake with tea flavour added. It begins with the café experience. The tea, texture, and flavour come first. The function confirms the product; it does not define the entire experience.

What makes a Protein Latte different?

A traditional protein shake is usually built around speed, utility, and macros. SUNA belongs to a different moment. It is made for the morning cup, the post-workout café stop, the afternoon pause, or an evening Toasted Black Sesame latte.

Customers can prepare it hot or cold with water, dairy milk, or a milk alternative. The result is intended to feel familiar: a Matcha Latte, London Fog–style Earl Grey, a roasted black sesame latte, or a chai latte—only with meaningful protein already built in.

The core product story

Retail staff do not need a long technical explanation. A simple four-part story is enough:

  • Sense: It tastes like a café drink, not a chalky protein shake.
  • Craft: It is made with real tea leaves sourced from Japan and Taiwan.
  • Function: Each full serving provides 20g of protein and 10g of marine collagen, with antioxidants from real tea.
  • Invitation: Enjoy it hot or cold, at the time of day that already feels natural.

Four flavours, four familiar entry points

Ceremonial Matcha is umami, delicate, and nutty. Classic Earl Grey is bold, citrus-forward, and floral, reading like a creamy London Fog. Toasted Black Sesame is roasted, nutty, and creamy, and is caffeine-free. Spicy Chai is warming, aromatic, and spiced, and is also caffeine-free.

This range makes SUNA easy to introduce because customers do not need to learn an unfamiliar flavour system. They can begin with a tea or café profile they already know.

How should a retailer describe SUNA?

Start with the experience, not the ingredient panel. Try: “SUNA is a café-inspired Protein Latte. It is smooth, not chalky, and gives you 20g of protein and 10g of marine collagen in a drink you can enjoy hot or cold.”

That is usually enough. The customer can then choose the flavour that best fits their taste and routine.

A product designed for repeat occasions

SUNA is not limited to the gym bag. It can replace or upgrade a familiar latte moment across the day. That gives retailers more than one selling occasion and gives customers more than one reason to return.

The strongest introduction is still the simplest: offer the first sip, explain the product clearly, and let the café-quality experience do the rest. In-person demos are ideal for launch days and guided discovery; passive demos keep chilled samples available throughout the day without requiring a dedicated staff member.

Staff Enablement

How to Explain SUNA in Ten Seconds

The best product explanation is short: café taste first, real tea and craft second, function third.

The ten-second answer

“SUNA is a café-inspired Protein Latte made with real tea. It is smooth, not chalky, and has 20g of protein and 10g of marine collagen. You can enjoy it hot or cold.”

That sentence gives a customer what they need without turning the conversation into a supplement lecture. It explains the category, the sensory difference, the function, and the flexibility.

Why the order matters

Retail conversations often begin with numbers: protein, collagen, calories, or sugar. Those details matter, but they are not the reason most customers decide to take a first sip.

SUNA is a taste-first product. The most effective order is: what it feels like, how it is made, what it provides, and how to enjoy it. In other words: sense, craft, function, invitation.

A four-step staff script

  1. Start with the familiar: “It is a café-inspired protein latte.”
  2. Remove the common objection: “It is smooth, not chalky.”
  3. State the function plainly: “It has 20g of protein and 10g of marine collagen.”
  4. Make the next step easy: “Would you like to try Matcha, Earl Grey, or Toasted Black Sesame?”

Match the answer to the customer

A Matcha customer may care about the refined tea flavour and morning ritual. A coffee drinker may be drawn to the roasted, nutty notes of Toasted Black Sesame. Someone who loves London Fogs will understand Earl Grey immediately.

The product does not need one universal pitch. It needs one clear foundation, followed by the flavour or occasion that makes sense for the person standing in front of you.

Useful answers to common questions

  • Is it very sweet? No. SUNA is designed to taste balanced and café-inspired.
  • Does it contain caffeine? Matcha and Earl Grey do, naturally from real tea. Toasted Black Sesame and Spicy Chai are caffeine-free.
  • Can it be made with milk alternatives? Yes. Oat, almond, dairy milk, or water can all work.
  • Is it a meal replacement? No. It is a functional Protein Latte and protein-support beverage.
  • Is it chalky or gritty? No. SUNA is formulated for a smooth latte experience.

What not to say

Avoid turning SUNA into gym-supplement language. Words such as “fuel,” “stack,” “hack,” and “mega blend” move the product away from what makes it distinct.

Confidence comes from restraint. State the facts, describe the cup, and invite the customer to taste it.

The goal is not a perfect speech

Retail teams do not need to memorize a brand manifesto. They need a sentence they can say naturally and a few answers they can trust.

Once the customer tastes SUNA, the conversation becomes much easier. That is why every staff explanation should lead naturally to a sample whenever an in-person or passive demo is running.

Sampling

Why the First Sip Matters: A Retailer’s Guide to Sampling SUNA

SUNA is easiest to understand when it is tasted. A good sampling program turns an unfamiliar category into a familiar café experience.

Taste removes the explanation gap

Protein Latte is still a new category for many shoppers. A customer may understand “protein” and “latte” separately, but still wonder what the combination will taste and feel like.

Sampling resolves that question immediately. The customer experiences the smooth texture, balanced sweetness, real tea flavour, and café-style finish before needing a detailed explanation.

Two ways to sample

SUNA supports two retail pathways: in-person demos and passive sampling.

In-person demos create conversation. A trained SUNA team member can pour the four flavours, answer questions, and help customers identify the blend that suits them. This format works well for launches, high-traffic periods, and stores that want a more guided experience.

Passive sampling creates continuous discovery. A self-serve station can offer chilled samples throughout the day without requiring dedicated store staff. SUNA can provide product, dispensers, sample cups, signage, setup guidance, and refresh protocols.

Inside the passive demo kit

The passive demo kit is designed to make unattended tasting practical and presentable. Its front-of-house centrepiece is a 2.5L shatterproof Tritan beverage tower with a removable chilling tube, self-serve tap, and polished base. The tower detaches for filling and cleaning.

A high-torque blender creates a smooth concentrate in seconds. An airtight, refrigerator-ready jug holds the mixed base before it is poured into the dispenser. The program can also include sample cups, branded signage, tasting menus, setup guidance, and refresh protocols.

The daily passive-demo recipe

For the concentrate-and-oat format, blend 288g of SUNA powder with 900mL of filtered water until smooth. Pour the concentrate into the jug, add one 946mL carton of barista oat milk, seal, and shake until fully combined.

The batch yields approximately 25 three-ounce samples. Keep it refrigerated and shake before every pour. This gives the store a repeatable method and gives each shopper a consistent first sip.

What a strong sampling station needs

  • One clear message: café-inspired Protein Latte.
  • A clean, attractive setup that feels consistent with the surrounding store.
  • Small tasting portions that make trial easy.
  • Simple flavour names and tasting notes.
  • A nearby product display so the next action is obvious.
  • Staff who can give the ten-second explanation when asked.

Choose the right flavour mix

Offering all four flavours creates discovery, but not every event requires the full range. Matcha is a strong visual draw. Earl Grey is familiar to London Fog drinkers. Toasted Black Sesame offers a roasted, caffeine-free alternative. Spicy Chai is familiar to chai latte drinkers.

For passive programs, one or two flavours may be easier to manage. For a staffed demo, the complete range helps customers compare and find a personal favourite.

Keep the product experience consistent

Preparation matters. Samples should be cold or warm as intended, mixed smoothly, and refreshed according to the program guidance. The station should remain clean, organized, and easy to understand.

The goal is not volume at any cost. The goal is a first sip that accurately represents the product.

Connect tasting to the shelf

Place the retail product within sight of the sampling station. Use a counter display or end cap when space allows. Make the product name, flavour, and core facts easy to read.

A customer should be able to move from tasting to choosing a pouch without searching for the product or asking what to do next.

Sampling is the beginning of the relationship

A strong first trial can lead to a morning ritual, an afternoon break, or a new post-workout choice. That is why SUNA treats sampling as product education, not merely promotion.

Give shoppers a clear moment to taste. Then give them the easiest possible path to bring the experience home.

Merchandising

How to Merchandise SUNA: From Countertop Discovery to High-Visibility Displays

The right display makes the product easy to discover, easy to understand, and easy to purchase.

Merchandising should answer three questions

A customer approaching the display should quickly understand: What is it? Why is it different? Which flavour should I choose?

For SUNA, the clearest answer is visual and concise: Protein Latte; café-inspired and smooth; four distinct tea profiles; 20g protein and 10g marine collagen per full serving.

Choose the display for the space

SUNA has several merchandising formats, each serving a different retail environment.

The flat countertop display offers a compact footprint for checkout areas, service counters, wellness desks, and smaller stores. It supports grab-and-go discovery without demanding a large allocation of floor space.

Elevated single- and double-row countertop displays increase visibility while keeping the format compact. These work well where the product needs to rise above surrounding merchandise.

The full-height end cap is built for high-visibility placement, multi-SKU merchandising, and stronger category presence. It is the best option when the goal is to create a dedicated SUNA destination.

Merchandise the range clearly

Keep all four core flavours visually organized. Customers should be able to compare Matcha, Earl Grey, Toasted Black Sesame and Spicy Chai without moving products around.

Use flavour names and tasting notes as the primary navigation. Functional facts can support the choice, but they should not overpower the café experience.

Place SUNA where the occasion makes sense

  • Protein and wellness aisle: introduces a more taste-led alternative to traditional powders.
  • Tea or café section: reinforces the real-tea and latte experience.
  • Beauty and wellness: connects naturally with marine collagen and intentional routines.
  • Front counter: supports trial, gifting, minis, and quick discovery.
  • Fitness studio or gym retail: offers a slowly sipped post-workout option.
  • Café shelf: lets customers bring the menu experience home.

Use education without creating clutter

A shelf talker or product card should do one job. It can explain the category, introduce the flavour, or highlight the key functional facts. It should not attempt to reproduce the entire product sheet.

Strong retail messaging includes short lines such as “The Protein Latte Customers Actually Crave,” “Café-inspired. Barista-crafted,” or “Smooth, never chalky.”

Link the display to trial

Where possible, pair the display with sampling. An in-person demo creates conversation and flavour comparison. A passive demo kit keeps a chilled self-serve tasting available through the day. Position either format near a countertop unit or end cap so the product experience and purchase path happen in the same moment.

Mini sachets can also lower the commitment for first-time customers and support discovery across flavours.

Maintain the standard

Keep pouches front-facing, flavours grouped, pricing clear, and the display stocked. Remove damaged packaging and replace worn signage.

Premium shelf presence is not about adding more. It is about making each element clear, intentional, and easy to use.

Next step

Ask the SUNA wholesale team about countertop displays, end caps, shelf materials, and sampling support.

Flavour Education

Meet the Four SUNA Flavours: A Retail Staff Guide

Four flavour profiles give customers four natural ways in.

Start with the customer’s usual café order

The easiest way to recommend a SUNA flavour is to ask what the customer already enjoys. Matcha drinker? Coffee or roasted-tea fan? London Fog customer? Chai drinker?

Each SUNA blend begins with a recognizable tea profile, making the recommendation feel natural rather than technical.

Ceremonial Matcha

Profile: Umami, delicate, nutty.

SUNA’s Ceremonial Matcha is sourced from Shizuoka, Japan. It is smoother and more refined than an everyday matcha cup, with the depth that regular matcha drinkers expect.

Best for customers who enjoy Matcha Lattes, a morning tea ritual, or a vibrant iced drink. It can be prepared hot or cold with water, dairy milk, or a milk alternative.

Classic Earl Grey

Profile: Bold, citrus, floral.

The bergamot-forward aroma gives this blend the familiar character of Earl Grey. Prepared as a latte, it reads like a creamy London Fog—recognizable, slightly bright, and quietly elevated.

Best for traditional tea drinkers, London Fog customers, and anyone who prefers a bold black-tea profile.

Toasted Black Sesame

Profile: Roasted, nutty, creamy.

Toasted Black Sesame is SUNA’s second plant-based blend. Its roasted, nutty character makes it a comfortable choice for coffee drinkers, with 15g of vegan protein and 6g of fibre in every serving. It is vegan, with no whey and no collagen, and it is caffeine-free.

Best for customers who like roasted, nutty flavours, want a plant-based option, or want a caffeine-free cup in the afternoon or evening.

Spicy Chai

Profile: Warming, aromatic, spiced.

Spicy Chai is SUNA’s other plant-based blend. Warming spice gives it the familiar character of a café chai latte, with 15g of vegan protein and 6g of fibre in every serving. It is vegan, with no whey and no collagen.

Best for customers who order chai lattes, want a plant-based option, or prefer a warming, spiced cup in the afternoon.

Recommendation shortcuts

  • “I love Matcha Lattes.” → Ceremonial Matcha.
  • “I usually order coffee.” → Classic Earl Grey.
  • “I love London Fogs.” → Classic Earl Grey.
  • “I want a caffeine-free option.” → Toasted Black Sesame or Spicy Chai.
  • “I love chai lattes.” → Spicy Chai.
  • “I want a plant-based option.” → Toasted Black Sesame or Spicy Chai.
  • “I want something delicate and iced.” → Ceremonial Matcha.

The function, blend by blend

Ceremonial Matcha and Classic Earl Grey each provide 20g of protein, including 10g of marine collagen, per serving, with antioxidants from real tea. Toasted Black Sesame and Spicy Chai, the two plant-based blends, each provide 15g of vegan protein and 6g of fibre, and are caffeine-free. The customer can choose by flavour, occasion and diet.

Invite the first sip

Descriptions help, but tasting makes the decision easier. During an in-person demo, offer the flavour closest to the customer’s usual café order. During a passive demo, feature one or two approachable flavours and keep the full product range within sight.

The goal is not to push one hero flavour. It is to help each customer find the cup they will want again.
